All We Can Be

We often speak in terms of "giving back to the community." Have we really considered what that phrase means? What is it that we are we giving back?

Before a person can give back, she or he must have something to give. In order to have something to give, we must be at peace with ourselves, and so it goes with a support group.

It is impossible to gloss over the fact that Kappa Beta has been though a considerable amount of trauma these last couple months. This was not the first such time, nor will it likely be the last.

Magical Night

This was originally posted in SCCLounge following the 2006 Southern Comfort Conference.

Let me add my thanks to all those who made SCC 2006 a possibility. It had been five years since my last SCC, but I hear I picked a good one to come to. It was wonderful seeing some familiar faces and making some new friends.

I put magical night in the heading because Saturday was just that for me (yes, pun intended).

In August, I had the chance of visiting the home of performer, Robert Baxt, the Magic Castle in Hollywood, CA. I was visiting with my parents who do not know about Stephanie. The Magic Castle is a private club for magicians. You get in only if you're a member or an invited guest. There is also a dress code: coat and tie for men and dresses or nice pant suit for women. My parents and I had a great time as we rarely get a chance to live it up.

Ghost Story

As a child I had run-ins with what I could only call "Ghost." When I was about 5 years old I had to share a room with my older sister who was about 7. One night we both woke up at the same time to find what looked like nothing more than just the outlines of 6 heads floating at the bottom of our bed.

Both my sister and I saw them and could not move for at least 5 to 10 minutes. I finally got up the nerve to turn on the light in the room and they were gone. After that I did not see them for over two years.

Coat of Many Colors

I am sure you have all heard this song by Dolly Parton, but have you ever wondered how it pertains to all of us in life.

We all wear a coat of many colors, whether it is Heterosexual, Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual, crossdresser. How many of us have been laughed at, scorned and made fun of because of the coat we wear?

Friendship

It’s the middle of October already! It only seems like a moment ago that I wore my green monster mask and pink hair to the October 2005 meeting…

I am sitting here, trying to stir up the creative juices to write an interesting and/or informative item for the Pink Slip, but it’s just not happening. Maybe it’s the dreary, rainy day we’re having. Perhaps it’s the call I just got from Toyota’s service department with the latest repair estimate on my car (I really didn’t need that $178 anyway; probably would have just wasted it on pantyhose or wigs, or something like that).
