Reaching Out

Ladies, it has been an interesting year for Kappa Beta, but we have also seen some challenges. We are coming up on our fall elections for the Board slate, and the new Board will face these challenges in the hope of strengthening and renewing our enthusiasm as a group.

I have no doubt that the Board will tackle these challenges, but guess what? Each and every member of Kappa Beta needs to participate and add her own individual value to the things that need to be done. Overall, we will be faced with two big tasks in the year ahead. One of these is the renewal that I spoke of earlier. But I’m not going to address renewal in this article. Instead, I’m going to address “strengthening”.

The strengthening that I am referring to here is new members. Every organization relies heavily on continuously adding new blood to its membership, and we are no different. As a matter of fact, I believe that it is even more critical for us to always be adding new members, because it seems that currently the nature of our membership is to be active in KB for a couple of years and then move on to different experiences.

Shopping Trip

I thought I'd write about my shopping trip with Jaye! Well first Jaye and I decided to go out to Southpark Mall where Jaye usually goes to Torrid to shop.

Torrid is a store that caters to the plus size girls, in sizes 12 and up! The girls there were so helpful and treated us super nice! The manager, Jennifer, said to let her know if she could help! I said “Okay, great!”

Why Me?

Recently, on one of the TG online support groups, someone said she wished “this CD thing would just go away.” She said it seemed there were only two choices in life, to be who we are and be lonely, or to live a lie.

I imagine everyone reading The Pink Slip has come to terms with who they are in one way or another, if only by virtue of joining Kappa Beta in search of support.

I also imagine each of us has, at one time in our lives, had the wish that it would “just go away”. If I think back through the mists of time, I could find such times in my own life.

Of course, we all know it won’t go away. Who we are is more than something we do. This “CD, TG, TS thing” is as much a part of who we are as is the color of our eyes.

Poetry

The Night surrounds me like a shawl.
It brings such light that brings such awe.
The glow of day has long dispensed,
And night’s shroud has commenced.
The queen of night has gained her throne
And brings the shades of life alone.
So let the night’s deep colors creep
To bring the solace of life too deep.
No world of brightness can relent,
But night’s deep shawl this night prevents.

Women’s Rules

  1. The female always makes the rules.
  2. The rules are subject to change at any time without notification.
  3. No male can possibly know all the rules.
